In light of the recent Ambassador event hosted by the ever so wonderful Zarek I wanted to take a moment to explain a little more in detail what GDPR means for you as a Habbo user.
So if you are not aware GDPR stands for General Data Protection Regulation as Zarek in the recent Infobus Session put it in simpler terms its a EU/UK Regulation Habbo has to follow.
It allows Habbos all over the world to access data Habbo has on them and also the ability to erase your data.
They have 3 options which can be found under privacy settings - https://www.habbo.com/settings/privacy at the bottom of the page & I will break down in simpler terms what they all mean.
Right to Access - This allows you to access the data Habbo holds for you for your viewing pleasure such as chat history, purchase history, private messages & much much more.
Right to Portability - The right to data portability allows data subjects to obtain and reuse personal data about them for their own purposes across different services. It allows data subjects to move, copy or transfer personal data easily from one IT environment to another in a safe and secure way without affecting its usability (what this means in terms of Habbo is still uncertain however it is part of the GDPR Law so they have to provide the option none-the-less).
Right to Erasure (this is one that needs to be explained proper as the results can be catastrophic so bare with me) - This options allows you to permanently erase all data tied to your EMAIL (not your Habbo ID) so if you use this option Habbo will erase all data tied to the email in which you requested this, this includes all IDs tied to that email address. Use this with extreme caution!
Please Note: In order to requested any of those 3 options you must have a verified email address that is tied to your Habbo account.
Hopefully this helps others understand the 3 options a little better.
Happy Pride Month to all!
